CORE Classes meet for a specific number of weeks and cover a specific topic.  These classes are geared toward classroom learning.  If you want deeper, thorough teaching on a particular topic, then CORE Classes are just what you're looking for.  Unless otherwise noted, all CORE Classes meet for the four weeks in the month they begin in.  Pre-registration is not required to attend a CORE Class.

Summer CORE Classes

The Third Hour (continues)

Taught by Don Sanders and Curt Hensley

Meets at 9:15am in Room CH102

During ancient times (and still today is some parts of the world), Christians would gather around 9:00am for prayer and Bible study.  This sacred time of the day was called Terce, or The Third Hour.  This new class will use this ancient practice to launch a new type of CORE Class at HCC.  In Hebrews 5:12, the author says, “You need someone to teach you again the basic principles of the oracles of God.”  This year-long class will focus on the basic principles of the Bible.  We will cover four basic topics that every Christian should be familiar with: the origins, content, interpretation, and personal study of the Bible.  Pick up a brochure for specific class topics.  So, whether you’ve become a Christian recently or have been for a long time, you’ll benefit from learning more about the Bible.  This class will repeat next year, so feel free to join in at any time.

Parenting the Early Years

Taught by Becky Arthur

Meets at 9:15am in Room CH103 from June 1 to July 6
What Kind of Parent Do You Want To Be? Who you are matters more than what you do. When your kids are all grown up, how will they remember you? In these 6 sessions you will go through a parenting approach you won't find in any other resource. Discover 10 biblical traits that will make you a better person and a better parent, then, begin to intentionally pass on key traits to your kids.

Spanish for Ministry
Taught by Jaime Castro
Meets at 10:45am in Room CH103 during June and July
This class will start with the very basic "beginners" conversational Spanish. If you are more fluent, you will have the opportunity to practice by helping others.

Mind Games

Taught by Barb Nelson

Meets at 9:15am in Room CH103 in August

God created us with an awesome mind. It thinks ... it feels ... it is the center for our wills. With all that power, it can be a battlefield between thoughts that honor God and others that don't. This study of the mind will help you better understand how the mind works and will provide weapons needed to fight the battles you face and WIN!
