We wondered how we could say goodbye to Ben and Pat. The answer came Sunday night, August 10, when there was standing room only at Central Campus. It was a great evening of laughter, standing ovations, and reminiscing as we honored Ben and Pat and commissioned Ben as a Minister-at-Large.
We will post exerpts from the evening online soon.
Doyle Roth has taken over preaching duties as interim Senior Minister.
Q&A with Ben Merold
How the Merolds have changed HCC
A letter from Pat
In late June, Ben Merold announced that he would be leaving his post as Senior Minister at Harvester Christian Church effective in August. He and Pat have served at HCC for 17 years. Ben will continue to focus on his long-time commitment to helping churches through consulting, leading seminars, and preaching at revivals.
You may not know that Ben -- in addition to preaching four services each weekend at Harvester -- was often traveling during the week to speak to churches or hold revivals. His schedule has been full, to say the least. After 59 years of service at local churches, Ben is going to transition into more of a consultant role, while continuing to help churches throughout the U.S.
To say that Ben and Pat will be missed is, of course, an understatement. Ben helped Harvester grow from 200 to 3400 people and has always had a direct hand in leading and shaping our church. Pat was the driving force behind Harvester's IMPACT Bible Study and was a popular teacher at HCC. She also founded HCC's Step-Up Ministry which assists abused women. Pat also is an accomplished speaker.
Even as we say goodbye to Ben and Pat, we know that they will continue to grow the church at large with their wisdom and commitment.
